Aging Commission of the Mid-South

Welcome to the Aging Commission of the Mid-South. We offer programs that make a difference in the lives of all older adults and adults living with disabilities. From the older person who can remain at home if they receive the right services to those who are healthy and can benefit from the activities and socialization provided by our community-based programs, such as senior centers, we ́re here to help.

Our Mission

Provide information and assistance to connect seniors, adults with disabilities, their families and caregivers with the tools needed to maximize their independence and safety in their chosen community.

Our Vision

Age and Disability Friendly Communities.

Our History

The Aging Network originated from the Older Americans Act of 1965 legislation and thrives today with funds provided by the United States Administration on Aging. The Aging Commission is a member of the Aging Network and is the designated Area Agency on Aging and Disability (AAAD) for Fayette, Lauderdale, Shelby, and Tipton Counties in West Tennessee.

Don't Know Where to Begin?

Begin by calling the Aging Commission’s Information and Assistance Line. The call center serves as the Single Point of Entry (SPOE) for all publicly-funded in-home services offered by the Aging Commission. These services include home-delivered meals, home-maker assistance, personal care assistance and special services for caregivers.

These individuals can provide answers to all types of questions regarding services and community resources, regardless of your financial circumstances or the type of help you need.

The Aging Commission is the starting point for information on in-home services such as homemaker, home delivered meals and personal care assistance. The social workers in our Information and Assistance department can answer your questions and conduct a telephone screening to determine if you may be eligible for assistance from CHOICES or other programs. If you or a family member may benefit from in-home help please contact our Information and Assistance line at 901-222-4111.
We are here to support residents in need by phone, mail, email, or online. In-person and walk-in services have been suspended, but we are still open.
